Office Administration & Employment Training Online Certificate

This 7-month online program provides learners with essential computer, data management, communication, business, and job search skills in the field of office administration.  In addition to classroom knowledge, students prepare for advanced administrative careers by gaining hands-on experience in a culturally-supported environment.

  • B.C. secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent (B.C. Adult Dogwood Graduation Diploma or General Education Diploma).
  • English 12 with a minimum 'C-' grade, or Communications 12 with a minimum 'B' grade
  • Math 10 with a minimum 'C' grade
  • NEC prioritizes Indigenous education for Indigenous learners, but we accept all people who are seeking a distinctly Indigenous educational experience. However, at this time, we do not accept international students.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Office Administration & Employment Training Certificate Program, learners will be proficient in the following areas:

Microsoft Office Business Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), online platforms (Zoom, Teams, OneDrive, Google Drive) and databases.

Enhancing business communication and public speaking skills by developing an assertive voice and leading groups in a cooperative team setting.

Assisting with administrative procedures such as document handling (budget submissions, contracts administration) work schedules, bookkeeping (payroll, invoicing, AR & AP, bank deposits), ordering office supplies and servicing office equipment ​

Develop and maintain trust in interpersonal relationships utilizing conflict management and emotional intelligence techniques displaying professionalism

Apply techniques for planning, and composing effective, professionally, formatted business documents such as letters, memos and reports

Demonstrate interview skills; answer behavioral descriptive interview questions, and identify methods for maintaining and advancing in your career
