Program Description

The 7-month Office Administration & Employment Training Certificate Program (OAET), including a 4-week practicum, is a proven and essential pathway to meaningful employment. The curriculum is crafted to meet the evolving demands of the modern office, supporting Indigenous learners in gaining stable, fulfilling employment by providing both technical and soft skills that embody Longhouse Values With Indigenous worldviews woven into the curriculum, this program empowers students by equipping them with a comprehensive set of skills vital in today’s fast-paced and technology-driven workplace. This program is designed to develop proficiency in critical office administration tasks while students learn the core functions of an office environment, including effective communication, time management, and the ability to organize and execute various administrative tasks. In addition, they develop hands-on experience in the workplace through a 4-week practicum, gaining invaluable insight into professional expectations and office dynamics. Upon completing the program, students are equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to perform a wide range of office administration roles with confidence and efficiency.

  • Duration: 28 weeks 
  • Delivery Method: On-campus, and Online Synchronous
    Note: Synchronous distance delivery means students attend classes virtually in ‘real time’ with instructors and classmates.

  • Schedule: M – F 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Career Opportunities

Students will be qualified for employment as administrative assistants in government, private and Indigenous organizations.
