Post-secondary education scholarships

We are happy to announce that NEC will be awarding entrance scholarships for our winter 2024 program start. First time applicants only. If awarded all of your school-related costs such as tuition, fees, books & supplies, and a student bus pass (Upass) will be covered. Living expenses while attending will be the responsibility of the student.

This Scholarship, if awarded to you will pay for all school-related costs such as tuition, fees, books & supplies, and a student bus pass (Upass). Living expenses while attending will be the responsibility of the student.

If you have been admitted into a certificate program and have been denied funding by your Nation, or other funding agency, this might be an opportunity to get the funding you need to start your certificate program.

First time applicants only. If you have taken certificate programs at another institution you will not be eligible for this entry scholarships.

The application requirements are as follows:

1. A copy of a funding denial letter from your Nation or other funding agency

A copy of a funding denial letter from your Nation or other funding agency you have applied to and any relevant communication from the funding organizations. 

  • Your nation may provide living expenses if they know you have program costs covered

2. An essay describing your financial need

An essay describing your financial need and how this scholarship could help you in reaching your career goals, as well as specifying the program in which you are interested. The essay must be at least three paragraphs long, single-spaced, and no more than one page long.

3. Confirmed living allowance

Confirmed living allowance – i.e., eligible for a student loan, organization or Band funding-only living allowance.

**If you have already taken a certificate level program at NEC or at another, you will not be eligible to apply as this is for first time applicants only.
