Phyllis Daniels is from the killer whale clan of the Gitxsan First Nation in Gitwangak British Columbia. She has a long standing history with the Native Education College (NEC) first being a student in the Aboriginal Adult Basic Education Program and the Aboriginal Justice Studies Program. Then in 2006 she became the summer student working with Donna Davison in the NEC library. After her summer student status ended she applied for the admissions clerk position where I continued to work with a great team in the Admissions Department until December 2010. Phyllis left NEC as an employee to pursue studies at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology in their Aboriginal Social Work Program where she graduated in June 2011.
Because of her connection with the Native Education College she wanted to give back to the school that had been a big part of her personal growth. To stay connected she attended the 2011-2012 AGM as a member and was nominated and accepted a seat on the Board of Directors. Phyllis looks forward to be part of such an amazing team of professionals that are working towards building relationships and moving NEC towards sustainability. She encourages anyone that has a goal to pursue their education to go for it! And, what better place to start then the Native Education College.
